Plastic Surgery Budapest - Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery, also called mastopexy, removes excess skin to raise, reshape and firm your breasts. The nipples and areolas (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipples) are repositioned, and the areolas may sometimes be reduced in size. If desired, implants may be inserted in conjunction with a breast lift to increase breast volume.

Large or small breasts do not make a difference here, though smaller breasts usually stay firmer better and large breasts tend to sag more quickly in the course of time. Direct ultraviolet radiation, not wearing a bra and an overall indifference towards your breasts help them to become sagging.

Loss of skin elasticity, gravity and other factors such as weight loss, pregnancy and breast-feeding ultimately affect the shape and firmness of your breasts. Patients who are generally satisfied with the size of their breasts can have a breast lift to raise and firm them, resulting in a more youthful breast contour. Some patients may be unhappy that they have lost a significant amount of breast volume over time. In such cases, implants inserted in conjunction with a breast lift can increase breast size at the same time as the shape and position of the breasts are enhanced.

A number of factors can contribute to a sagging or drooping breasts:
  1. Child-birth or breast-feeding
  2. Dramatic weight-loss or weight gain
  3. Hormonal fluctuations
  4. Natural aging process - the skin loses elasticit
For small and sagging breasts: a breast lift is performed and an implant inserted to restore fullness. A scar will result around the nipple but it will be barely visible. The patient and surgeon should decide together on the new cup size.

For normal-sized sagging breasts: the surgeon will only restore their shape by removing excess skin. If the sagging is not too critical, the scar will be around the nipple but will be barely visible.

For large-sized sagging breasts: the surgeon will reduce the size of the breasts and correct the sagging. The nipple and areola are raised to the correct position. The scar is normally in the shape of a reversed T or anchor-shaped. It starts around the areola and extends downwards in a straight line to under the breast and along the lower crease of the breast. The length of the scar depends on the extent of the reduction and the sagging of the breasts.

Nipple drooping: Nipples that have sagged severely are raised back into position. Nipples that are too big or irregular can also be corrected at the same time.

Women usually have breast lifts to lift sagging, loose breasts. This surgery is best for are women who have stretched skin and decreased breast volume caused by aging. Please note:You should not have a breast lift if you are planning to lose weight or are pregnant or still nursing a child.
