Procedure
Ear surgery or otoplasty is intend to improve the appearance of the ears by setting prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. The result should look natural and enhance the balance between your ears and other facial features.Small incision is done in the back of the ear to expose the ear cartilage. Surgeon will then sculpt the cartilage and bend it back toward the head. Non-removable stitches may be used to help maintain the new shape. After the surgery the ear or ears are heavily bandaged for a few days.

Possible risks and complications of othoplasty surgery

After care
You should wear headband for a period of times to maintain the new position of ear's cartilage, especially at night.You can control any discomfort with the pain medication prescribed by your surgeon.The patient wears a snug-fitting bandage for 24 hours, which is then removed and replaced with a ski-type headband to support the healing ears. This band is worn continuously for five to seven days and then at night for six weeks. Postoperative discomfort is usually minimal. Stitches are usually removed, or will dissolve, in about a week.
If you feel any severe pain, call your surgeon immediately. You can return to work and resume of your normal activities within 7 days. Any activity in which the ear might be bent should be avoided for a month or so. Your surgeon will let you know when you are ready for any kind of exercise.
