The eyes are the number one feature that people notice when they first meet. The eyes are as a facial feature unfortunately they are also one of the first to show the signs of ageing. Eyelid bags, sagging skin or wrinkles can give the appearance of being tired, stressed or aged. By removing the unwanted fat or skin and tightening the wrinkles, you can easily strip away 10 years or more from your age. Ageing is an irreversible, relentless process of tissue degeneration resulting in loss of elasticity and stretching of skin. The rate of this ageing process varies from individual to individual and depends on the person's genetic make-up. It is hastened by the effects of sun exposure, smoking and the stresses of daily life. Because eyes have so much expression, male and female patients alike often choose to have eyelid surgery as their first plastic surgery procedure.

Hooding of the upper eyelids is the combined effect of descent of the eyebrows into the lid area (blepharoptosis) and an increase in the upper eyelid skin due to loss of elasticity and stretching of the skin (blepharochalasis) If eyelids are droopy (ptosis) this can also be corrected by shortening the muscle, that raises your upper eyelid.
In upper eyelid surgery the surgeon first marks the individual lines and creases of the lids in order to keep the scars as invisible as possible along the natural skin fold. The incision is made, and excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed. Fine sutures are used to close the incisions, thereby minimizing the visibility of any scar.

Please Note
Excess upper eyelid skin sometimes requires that a brow lift be performed. The descending brow contributes to the amount of excess skin present on the upper eyelid as it descends. In many cases removing the upper eyelid skin alone does not produce a more awake look until the brow is raised.
Anesthesia for the surgery
The operation performed under a local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation.
Outpatient cosmetic procedure
Duration of the surgery
Upper or lower blepharoplasty usually takes only one hour.
Typical time for recovery after blepharoplasty
Patients look presentable after 3 to 5 days. Required minimum stay in Budapest 4 days.
Possible risks and complications of eyelid surgery
When eyelid surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. You can reduce your risks by closely following your surgeon's instructions both before and after surgery. The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can only be determined at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.
After care of eyelid surgery
After surgery, Your eyelids may feel tight and sore as the anesthesia wears off, but you can control any discomfort with the pain medication prescribed by your surgeon. If you feel any severe pain, call your surgeon immediately. You should keep your head elevated for several days, and use cold compresses to reduce swelling and bruising for a few days. Swelling and bruising varies considerably from person to person. Bruising typically disappears within seven to ten days.
For the first week, you’ll need to avoid activities that dry the eyes, including reading, watching television, wearing contacts, and using a computer. Also avoid excessive blinking, which leads to increased swelling. You should also wear dark sunglasses for a couple of weeks to protect your eyes from wind and sun irritation. For the first three or four weeks, you should avoid any activity that increases blood flow to the eyes, including bending, lifting, crying and sports. Your surgeon will let you know when you are ready for exercise. Also avoid drinking alcohol, which can lead to fluid retention and delay recovery.
Results after the eyelid surgery
Upper blepharoplasty can make a remarkable difference in the appearance of the face, alleviating the appearance of tiredness and old age. The eyes appear fresher and more youthful, and these results may last for many years. The surgery of lower lids should smooth out bulges, take away fat bags from under eyes. One will look rested, and people will see your face instead of focusing on your unsightly lower lids.

Please note:
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) correct drooping upper lids that tend to sag with time and the puffy bags below the eyes but it cannot alter dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nor can it change sagging eyebrows.
Few medical conditions make blepharoplasty more risky. They include thyroid problems such as hypothyroidism and Graves' disease, dry eye or lack of sufficient tears, high blood pressure or other circulatory disorders, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. A detached retina or glaucoma is also reason for caution; check with your ophthalmologist before you have surgery.
